Have you ever quickly rented a movie, and since the movie you wanted wasn't there, just grabbed another one... only to remember AFTER you had already rented it, that you already saw the movie... in fact the very LAST time you rented a movie!! Yeah... feeling a little stupid at that wasted movie rental. Justin Taylor

"The power of the sword, say the minority..., is in the hands of Congress. My friends and countrymen, it is not so, for The powers of the sword are in the hands of the yeomanry of America from sixteen to sixty. The militia of these free commonwealths, entitled and accustomed to their arms, when compared with any possible army, must be tremendous and irresistible. Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress has no power to disarm the militia. Their swords and every terrible implement of the soldier are the birthright of Americans. The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments but where, I trust in God, it will always remain, in the hands of the people." Parental Guidance... the movie starts on Christmas Day!! I went and saw it tonight and it's very, very funny. Completely makes fun of the NEW AGE way of raising kids... while also show, that parents, all parents, make mistakes. But it's about communication, listening and most importantly, just being there for your children. Billy Crystal and Bette Middler make AWESOME Grandparents, while Marissa Tormei is a funny, obsessive, neurotic, not wanting to admit her parents might be right about some things, mom. Despite the way some of the kids act, being WAY over the top and just out there, it's not far off from how some kids are in this day and age, and how so many let them get away with just about anything, because they are so afraid of just saying NO!! Funny film that you can watch with your children... great family film... worth seeing if you want a good comedy this Christmas break. Justin Taylor

From a friends post. Too bad people with closed minds will somehow negate this or any other fact. Examples of gun-free zones that a GOOD guy with a gun reduced thte deaths by being able to take out shooter before more lives were taken. I believe this is called Checks and Balances. -- Mayan Palace Theater, San Antonio, Texas, this week: Jesus Manuel Garcia shoots at a movie theater, a police car and bystanders from the nearby China Garden restaurant; as he enters the movie theater, guns blazing, an armed off-duty cop shoots Garcia four times, stopping the attack. Total dead: Zero. -- Winnemucca, Nev., 2008: Ernesto Villagomez opens fire in a crowded restaurant; concealed carry permit-holder shoots him dead. Total dead: Two. (I'm excluding the shooters' deaths in these examples.) -- Appalachian School of Law, 2002: Crazed immigrant shoots the dean and a professor, then begins shooting students; as he goes for more ammunition, two armed students point their guns at him, allowing a third to tackle him. Total dead: Three. -- Santee, Calif., 2001: Student begins shooting his classmates -- as well as the "trained campus supervisor"; an off-duty cop who happened to be bringing his daughter to school that day points his gun at the shooter, holding him until more police arrive. Total dead: Two. -- Pearl High School, Mississippi, 1997: After shooting several people at his high school, student heads for the junior high school; assistant principal Joel Myrick retrieves a .45 pistol from his car and points it at the gunman's head, ending the murder spree. Total dead: Two. -- Edinboro, Pa., 1998: A student shoots up a junior high school dance being held at a restaurant; restaurant owner pulls out his shotgun and stops the gunman. Total dead: One. By contrast, the shootings in gun-free zones invariably result in far higher casualty figures -- Sikh temple, Oak Creek, Wis. (six dead); Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va. (32 dead); Columbine High School, Columbine, Colo. (12 dead); Amish school, Lancaster County, Pa. (five little girls killed); public school, Craighead County, Ark. (five killed, including four little girls). All these took place in gun-free zones, resulting in lots of people getting killed -- and thereby warranting inclusion in the Mother Jones study. If what we care about is saving the lives of innocent human beings by reducing the number of mass public shootings and the deaths they cause, only one policy has ever been shown to work: concealed-carry laws. On the other hand, if what we care about is self-indulgent grandstanding, and to he** with dozens of innocent children being murdered in cold blood, try the other policies. Justin Taylor

I thought this was highly appropriate and something everyone should read, since these are not my words, but the words of someone who does understand losing a child to extreme gun violence. =========================================== Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's sub-committee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript: "Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers." "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent." "I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy-it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. "I wrote a poem that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today:" Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need! "Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, soul, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and reek havoc. Spiritual influences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws." Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. Political posturing and restrictive legislation are not the answers. The young people of our nation hold the key. There is a spiritual awakening taking place that will not be squelched! We do not need more religion. We do not need more gaudy television evangelists spewing out verbal religious garbage. We do not need more million dollar church buildings built while people with basic needs are being ignored. We do need a change of heart and a humble acknowledgment that this nation was founded on the principle of simple trust in God!" "As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, He did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America, and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA- I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!" Justin Taylor

My heart goes out to those here locally, or just down the road rather, that were affected by the shooting in the mall... Reports are that 3 people are dead, including the gunman and one in critical condition, but it sounds as though she should be fine... However, with over 10K shoppers in the mall, and over a million square feet of space...plus an automatic weapon of some sort it seems...it could have been so, so, so much worse. Thankfully either the shooter was a horrible shot or he was highly focused on his victims, either way, thankfully it wasn't much worse. But I'm still hearing more about it as the local news is plastered with it, and I expect over the next week or two we will continue to hear more. Justin Taylor

I just got home from watching The Hobbit! Excellent movie, but there are those that wont like it and those that have too many expectations. It is pretty funny, yet has lots of adventure and seems to spend a portion of the beginning of the movie really targeting the younger audience. I heard a lot of people say, 7 or 8 out of 10... and I'd give it an 8... I am easier to please that some people, as I enjoy watching movies and watch them for what the are, as I take into account the overall scope of the story. Lots of amazing cinematography, and some fantastic special effects, as one would expect. It laid a nice foundation to not only The Hobbit, but also with everything in LOTR. Well worth seeing. I'm not sure I need a special day to say that I'm thankful for My Family, and to my Friends, both on and off line, for those I know very well and those I barely know... I'm thankful for so many things, every single day, that I'm not sure there is enough space here to say everything... ...as I'm thankful for the air we breathe, the trees I see, the earth I walk on, the plants that feed me and the animals that serve me... I'm thankful for those who agree with me and those who challenge me... in politics, in life, in religion, and in business. I'm Grateful for living in a country that allows me a chance to agree and disagree with my leaders, and my friends. For a chance to have my own opinion, and to share it with others. I'm thankful for living in a country that allows me the ability to believe what I want to believe, and to be able to express in public on forums and in writing, how I believe, and know that even though there are those that may disagree with me, that it is something that is also protected. I'm thankful there are those that were willing to believe in, and fight, and die to protect our Constitution and every Liberty that we have had and still have even today. I only wish more people that would understand and also respect every one of those freedoms. Which means I'm super grateful for those that serve, have served, and even will serve, and the sacrifices that they themselves have or are making and especially for their families that support them, regardless of how they feel about specific political actions or places they must serve. I'm grateful that there are those that were and are still willing to stand up for Liberty and Freedom. To all you Veterans, Thank you today, this month, and EVERY DAY!! I'm thankful for a loving Living God, for his Son and for the atonement which allows us all to be forgiven. I'm thankful TODAY AND EVERYDAY FOR ALL THESE THINGS AND SO MANY MORE!! Happy Thanksgiving!! Justin Taylor

I found this quote to be particularly relevant to recent events: "The next 10 years, the decade from 2010-20120, will prove to be the most exciting decade in history. The next ten years will mark the end of the American Empire. The U.S. dollar will prove to be a fraud, and a whole new world economy will emerge. This borderless world, powered by low-cost technology, will unleash the world's genius and reveal the massive ignorance that ran the old world economy. For those financially educated, prepared, flexible, and adaptable, the next ten years will be the best of times. For those waiting for the happy days of the past to return, the next ten years will be the worst of times." -Robert Kiyosaki Unfair Advantage: The Power of Financial Education Do you agree or disagree, with all or some, is the question and why or why not?? Hopefully everyone took part in the voting process. Hopefully promises made will be kept. The nation has spoken and said very, very loudly that small business is not important to them. I am seeing plenty of posts that say things like goodbye recession, and hello depression. I have many fears that is what may be ahead. Half of this country, almost split down the middle, were for and the other half against. Let's hope that both of the major parties can set aside differences and compromise enough to lead this country in the right direction. I do have to say too... If you don't like what has happened, then what you need to do, is get more active and NOT lose hope. This election was largely won on the backs of minorities and some might say a lot of women. I know not all, that is a generalized statement. What's very interesting to me, is as far as the mix of how the country is run, nothing is changing. The president stays, the Senate is still controlled by Democrats, and the House is still controlled by the Republicans. So when it comes to legislation, at least new stuff, it is going to be tough. Party politics will most likely remain. The question is how much will Executive Orders play a part in the presidents agenda. It will be interesting since the only thing that has changed is Obama doesn't have to care about reelection any more. May God Help Us All!! Justin Taylor

OK... I think I finally figured it out. I know why we don't have a balanced budget now. Last night I saw the President on Jay Leno, or at least part of it. He being asked quick questions at the end, and the questions steered towards his children and how he helps them with their homework. (ah...) But when asked which subject he had a hard time helping his kids with, he said math. His response was that anything beyond about 7th grade, he was just completely lost. What does that tell you? I'd tell 'em to go to hell, they ain't getting the password to my FB account. It's against the TOS to share it with anyone anyway... and I value my privacy. If they want to see what I'm writing and saying, I make most of my posts public anyway... and when I don't, that means I don't want them to see it. I got a voice mail from my storage place today and they received a call from a Sheriff or some officer, and he thinks he found some stolen property that may belong to me. Surgery seems to have gone fine. I'm still a little loopy from meds. The pain is tolerable, but like I said I have some good potent drugs in me. I did get finished pretty quick. But what is funny, is I set a new bar in post op. I arrived and was the typical, pretty out of it, but then in a matter of minutes, I was talking and joking and making the other patients and nurses laugh. They said I was the first person they could ever remember being happy in Post Op. I was released about 5 times faster expected from Post Op. I was definitely feeling every bit of the meds, as I couldn't feel my face, hands feet, or any other body part, except a little bit of my stomach where the surgery occurred. But I was very lucid and answering and talking about some complex issues. A couple of the other patients and few nurses all asked, "Are you sure you (or he) just had surgery?" We'll see how the next few days go, as I'm supposed to rest and follow a bunch of rules, as well as take some meds to help me recuperate. I'll know more about what happened, how long it took, whether it was very successful, what they found or didn't find, etc... soon enough. Thanks for all your PRAYERS!! Justin Taylor

What the Hell?? When it rains it pours... I am having surgery on Wednesday, for I think what they call an umbilical hernia. I get home and try to get to my numbers on my cell phone to get a ride to and from my surgery and to my delightful surprise... My Cell phone isn't recognizing any touch... the touch pad died or something. So I can't get to the phone numbers on the dang Sim Card... and my spare phone was stolen when my truck was robbed last week. So now, I am locked out of my cell phone, since I can't enter the code... I have been robbed and lost hundreds of dollars in stuff from my truck and I'm have a hernia that needs operated on. What next?? Can something good happen for a change?? Just once... that's all I ask. Is that too much to ask for right now?? GRRRRRRR...!!!!! Justin Taylor
